HEAVENWARD

HEAVENWARD

Is. 60:19-20 “The sun shall no longer be your light by day,
Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you;
But the LORD will be to you an everlasting light,
And your God your glory. Your sun shall no longer go down,
Nor shall your moon withdraw itself;
For the LORD will be your everlasting light,
And the days of your mourning shall be ended.

One of fondest memories from my Bible School days was our Sunday night worship services. We would sometimes have service outside and the desert sunset in the San Joaquin Valley was nothing less than breath taking. Today’s verse inspired one of the songs our worship leader, Claire Mcintosh, wrote and used to sing. The seeds of worship planted in my heart in those early dates began to sprout and bare fruit when we started our church in New Orleans. As we are releasing our newest worship project, Heavenward, this weekend, I have been thinking of the years of supernatural worship at Victory Fellowship.
Our first worship leader was part of our church planting team from God’s Army, Jack Taylor. Those services led by Jack were quite special. All I can say is that it was spontaneous, joyful, and supernatural. Those are some of my favorite memories from our church, worshipping and pressing in to the Kingdom. Next was Doug Fowler. Doug added a professional edge to our worship services. Again, these meetings were filled with joy unspeakable and a real sense of the Tabernacle of David. Next, we moved into a season with Ellie Rebbenack serving as “mom” to our young worship team. Ellie was a worshipper and brought a fresh sense of intimacy with God into our meetings. Ellie handed off the baton to Ty Tyler. Ty was privileged to be in place when God came down in 1994. Ty led our church through hundreds of revival services playing for hours on end. I think our platform became Ty’s living room as he was used by God to “swim in the River of God” for years to come. Next was Paul Meanie. During one of the first services that Paul led he sang from Psalm 40. That song was David’s “new song” which marked that incredible season. How can I describe those awesome years with Paul? Energy, creativity, power; we were being taken by God into His new song, preparing us for what came next. Katrina interrupted that great season which brought us into another very special time. Now it was Jason Morant’s turn at the helm. People were hurting after Katrina. God, in His awesome wisdom and timing, anointed Jason to pour out the healing balm as we moved into a special season of intimate worship, broken hearts were being healed.
That brings us to today. Today, Courtney Garris is our music minister backed up by the latest worship leader, Chandler Veasey. Courtney has a powerful prophetic mantle on her life. The Lord is using her to take us into new places in worship we have never known before. With Courtney’s powerful voice and prophetic edge, and Chandler’s gentle call to intimacy with God, we are soaring together in heavenly places. I hope you get a copy of Heavenward. There are original songs by Courtney, Chandler, and Jacob Tabor; all tied up in a beautiful package by the arrangements of Greg Hill. Hope you join us as we turn our gaze Heavenward.

  3. Whew, Hallelujah, on that verse and that’s the truth. Good Morning, Pastor Frank,
    Awesome blog, as I was reading your blog this morning, I couldn’t help but seeing Gods maneuvering in all the lives that passed through our Church, and still moving and arranging new Brothers and Sisters through daily.
    Some of the people that you mentioned I never met, but Praise the LORD for them.
    It’s all for His Glory, and III just have to say, LORD thank You for my Church and Pastor and Worship Band. Your whole house.
    I love the House You sent me to, nothing compares to Victory Fellowship, just something about the atmosphere, ha, can’t get enough.
    Gazing Heavenward, awesome blog, 1 day at a time. Hallelujah to the King. With love:)
    Nothing like Worshipping the King…
