BEDEWED
Ps. 133:3 It is like the dew of Hermon,
Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the LORD commanded the blessing—
Life forevermore.
Have you ever tasted revival for yourself? I say “tasted” for a reason. There is an unmistakeable “taste” that is associated with fresh moves of the Spirit. Last Sunday morning I had one of those moments standing on the platform at Victory Fellowship when the distinct “taste” of the Spirit of God filled the the room. Someone was sharing a healing testimony when the atmosphere in the room changed. I was immediately carried away to another service that took place in 1995 at Victory Fellowship. In that 1995 service we were watching a video of a revival meeting somewhere else. In 1995, the Spirit of God fell on us during the video testimony. There was a distinct feeling in the air, that was what I “tasted” last Sunday morning at Victory, The Lord was in the house in a new and unexpected way. Charles Spurgeon loved the Holy Spirit and His profound impact on our lives. Here is something he said about the moving of the Spirit.
“As heavenly dew, he removes our barrenness and fertilizes our lives. O that he would drop from above upon us at this early hour! Such morning dew would be a sweet commencement for the day. As the dove, with wings of peaceful love he broods over his Church and over the souls of believers, and as a Comforter he dispels the cares and doubts which mar the peace of his beloved. He descends upon the chosen as upon the Lord in Jordan, and bears witness to their sonship by working in them a filial spirit by which they cry Abba, Father. As the wind, he brings the breath of life to men; blowing where he listeth he performs the quickening operations by which the spiritual creation is animated and sustained. Would to God, that we might feel his presence this day and every day.”
Back in 1995, my late friend Dick Mills came to preach in our church. When he stepped into the sanctuary he stopped in his tracks and turned to me. “This is the same atmosphere I felt in Angeles Temple as a teenager”, he said. Angeles Temple was pastored by Aimee Semple MacPhaerson in the height of the pentecostal outpouring in the early part of the last century. Dick had “tasted” that presence before and that unmistakeable presence was there that night. Spurgeon said it was like dew falling at the break of the day. How do you know if the dew is present? I guess you know when you get wet. This present generation is due for a move of the Spirit of God. Every generation needs the witness of the Spirit for themselves, this one is no different. That “taste” that was unmistakeable to me last Sunday was a guarantee of things to come. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself bedewed in the days just ahead.
