When ye go, ye shall not go empty—Exodus 3:21
I often think of the preacher from Georgia that stumbled upon our revival meeting in 1995. He was visiting on vacation and ended up in our Holy Ghost services. The meetings were going on day and night and this Georgia preacher was desperate for a touch. He saw hundreds of other people being filled with the Holy Spirit and tasting incredible supernatural joy but he couldn’t seem to break through. After several days of this he was calling out to The Lord and he felt he got his answer. The Lord seemed to say, “I can’t fill you because you are full, full of yourself. You have to empty yourself of yourself before you can be filled”. That was all the Georgia preacher needed. Repentance, pouring out his heart, and before you know it he was overwhelmed with God’s glory and the most astounding supernatural joy. A. B. Simpson spoke of being emptied to be filled, check this out.
“When we are really emptied He delights to fill us with Himself and the Holy Spirit. it is very precious to be conscious of nothing good in ourselves; but are we also conscious of His great goodness? We may be ready to admit our own disability, but are we as ready to admit His ability? There are many Christians who can say, “I am not sufficient of [thyself) to think any thing as of [myself]; . . . but the number is very small who can say, [My] sufficiency is of God (2 Corinthians 3:5). Are you convinced that He is able to provide every want in you, or do you feel that you must supply it yourself? Do you believe that God does supply every lack in your heart and life, so that all stumbling is taken away and you are endowed with power for His service?
Our Savior, at Cana, ordered the waterpots to be filled to the brim. Then the water was made into wine, but not until the vessels were full. God wants His children always to have a full heart.”
Maybe you are having trouble experiencing the renewal of the Holy Spirit. If that’s the case maybe, just maybe, you need to be emptied first. Search your heart, is it full of God or full of other things. Sometimes we have to clean house, get rid of some of the junk in our lives so that we can really begin to receive from God.

STUNNING BEAUTY
I seldom hear anyone describe The Lord by using words and phrases like y’all do…..”Stunning” “Beauty” “Take my breath away”. These words resonate in my heart.
Years ago, say in 1992 or 1993, I had been born again and filled with the Holy Spirit for about 11 years. I even sang and led worship at “Ladies Interfaith” in Gonzales for several years at that point…. but I couldn’t see the Beauty! My heart was searching.
One day I was reading scripture, and came to the part where Sheba had seen all of Solomon’s riches, and his kingdom, his palace, even the garments his servants wore were beautiful!
Sheba had asked him everything she could think of, and he answered all her questions with great wisdom. The scripture said “…she was breathless and amazed.”
Those words captured my heart. It seemed like “the last piece of a lovely puzzle had suddenly slipped into place”. Because, I thought, IF this verse in front of my eyes was actually scripture, and of course, it was….then..!!!!!!..my brain fast forwarded to this conclusion: God must be breathtaking!!!!
Everything stopped!
I “feasted” on this thought, or revelation, for days and weeks!!!
As the revelation blossomed into further thoughts and conclusions, my heart was showing me this:
That’s how he WANTS US to feel about him…..”breathless and amazed”!!!
It’s so simple.
GOD IS BREATHTAKING!!!!!
Oh my goodness!
And He wants us to RESPOND!
It is as though the sun, moon, stars, trees, birds, grass, mountains, valleys, creeks, rivers, bayous…the earth itself is crying out and calling to us, “RESPOND, all you people!!! RESPOND to His Beauty!!!!
He deserves our endless praise, with every breath!!!!
And then to top it off…..
one day we will actually see him face to face, in all his glory!!!!! It is our HOPE OF GLORY!!!!!
That would answer so many of my questions and “set the tone” for so many verses in the bible.
It would explain how grown men could write and speak with such passion about an invisible God they had never seen with their eyes.
It would explain the tender passionate words of David in the Psalms.
And when God told Abraham “I am your shield and your very great reward.” He Himself!!! is our reward!!!
And how Ekekiel had to stop in middle of a sentence to “give God Glory in His dwelling place”!
He had captured their hearts the same way Solomon captured Sheba’s heart, and the same way Jesus captured the hearts of the people who met Him in the New Testament. They were all breathless and amazed! Some were jealous and angry, others feel at His feet and worshipped Him They saw the stunning beauty!
Glory to God!
So did I that day.
Thank you! I read the Bailey Drink every day!
