Rom. 8:27, 28 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
How do you really know your prayers will be answered? Jesus gave us a powerfully encouraging promise in John. He said , “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you”. That is powerful but there are times that I am not really sure about God’s specific promise or His will in certain situations. That’s why the promise in today’s scripture verse is so powerful. It says that when I pray in my Spirit language I am praying the will of God. That kind of prayer is guaranteed. I am actually vocalizing the will of God when I pray in tongues. The last part of Romans 8:27 says, “according to the will of God. ” God makes intercession for the saints according to His will. One of the awesome blessings connected to our prayer language is praying the will of God. For us, the future is a great mystery. We have hopes and expectations for our future, but the plans of God are locked up until He chooses to display His plans and purposes. There are incredible blessings and incredible challenges ahead of us all. Part of praying the will of God is connected to yielding our own will, which will come into conflict with God’s plans for our lives. As we pray in the Spirit, there is a yielding of our heart. As we yield, the Holy Spirit begins to change us so that we can actually enjoy His coming plans. There is also a work of preparation being done. He equips us with the necessary tools for the challenges that are ahead of us. The anointing is the equipment we need for the challenging days ahead.
What kind of things are you struggling with? Do you sometimes have a hard time praying with confidence about your future? That is one of the many great benefits we have been given when the Lord filled us with His Spirit and gave us this language of prayer. We don’t have to hit and miss or just hope and pray. We can pray definitively the will of God as we pray in the Spirit. Yes, He really is causing all things to work together for good in our lives.
