Ps.110:1 – The LORD says to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool.”

The glorification of Jesus Christ as a man sends God’s enemies into a rage. Think about it, man is the crown of God’s creation. When man fell into his abysmal state after yielding to the enemy’s temptation, it appeared he would be an eternal humiliation to the Lord. Christ enthroned as a redeemed man at the right hand of the Father sends the enemy and his forces into a rage. As the manifestation of the kingdom of God draws near the rage of desperation is infiltrating the spirit of the world. This world hates Jesus Christ and the spirit controlling it will stop at nothing to try to stop the inevitable. Here is how Augustine describes this verse and the fallout it creates.

“Christ, therefore, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Son is on the right hand of the Father, hidden from us. Let us believe. Two things are here said: that God said, “Sit Thou on My right hand;” and added, “until I make Thy enemies Thy footstool;” that is, beneath Thy feet. Thou dost not see Christ sitting at the right hand of the Father: yet thou canst see this, how His enemies are made His footstool. While the latter is fulfilled openly, believe the former to be fulfilled secretly. What enemies are made His footstool? Those to whom imagining vain things it is said, “Why do the heathen so furiously rage together: and why do the people imagine a vain thing?” etc. …He therefore sitteth at the right hand of God, till His enemies be placed beneath His feet. This is going on, this is taking place: although it is accomplished by degrees, it is going on without end. For though the heathen rage, will they, taking counsel together against Christ, prevent the fulfilment of these words: “I will give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession”?

Bit by bit the kingdoms of this world are falling to the kingdom of our God. As the day draws near the enemy grows in desperation. As far as we know there has never been a time like this where churches were forbidden to meet around the world. Corona is a feeble attempt to stop the church in her tracks. These are the desperate tactics of a defeated foe. What should be our position? Ignore his threats and proceed, the victory belongs to the Lord.
