Heb.12:1 – Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Thankfully the Lord rarely lets us know what our future is going to look like. When I first started I could never have mustered the faith to stay in the race if I knew all the twists, turns, and snares that would be along my journey. Jesus has met me day after day with grace for whatever I may face. When I first got saved I had no way to comprehend the challenges and the rewards that would be in front of me. Grace for today has satisfied and sustained me all the way. He was enough in the industry bust in the eighties, enough during Katrina, and He is more than enough in this Corona pandemic. He is causing us to triumph as we look to Jesus. Here is how Andrew Murray describes this race.
“After having shown us, in his wonderful picture gallery, what the fulness of faith is, he now calls us, in view of all the trials life may bring, and with them the temptation to grow disheartened and faint, to patience as the virtue by which faith is to prove its persistence and secure its reward. True religion is not only drawing nigh to God once in the Holiest, but a life to be renewed there every day; it is not only the entrance upon the new and living way, but a continually abiding life and walk in it. It is running a race with patience. We have seen what life in the Holiest is, in the place where the power of the eternal life enters and possesses us. Let us now look at that life in its visible manifestation as a race we run, and learn what is needed to run well and win the crown.”
We are never promised a life without trials and challenges, He has promised to be with us in the midst of all of it. This unexpected twist in the road called Corona will turn out to bring blessing and advancement to His sons and daughters. My daily task is to not get discouraged and give up but to draw near and experience His daily renewal.
