Ezekiel.37:9,10 – Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.

When you read the whole chapter the word clearly says that the hand, or Spirit of the Lord, is resting on Ezekiel. This passage shows us that the Spirit resting on us will not change our world, we have to respond to the Spirit for that to happen. What was the Spirit saying to Ezekiel? The people of Israel were spiritually dead, they were dead and characterized by dry bones. The Lord told Ezekiel he would have to act. What was he to do? The Lord told him to pray to the breath of God and prophesy over the bones. This is a now word for us today. Our nation is spiritually dead. I think 2021 will be characterized by the church responding to this word; pray and prophesy. Here is how Matthew Henry describes this passage.

“He must preach, and he did so; and the dead bones lived by a power that went along with the word of God which he preached. He must pray, and he did so; and the dead bones were made to live in answer to prayer; for a spirit of life entered into them…..God bids his ministers prophesy upon the dry bones. Say unto them, Live; yea, say unto them, Live; and they do as they are commanded, calling to them again and again, O you dry bones! hear the word of the Lord. But we call in vain, still they are dead, still they are very dry; we must therefore be earnest with God in prayer for the working of the Spirit with the word: Come, O breath! and breathe upon them. God’s grace can save souls without our preaching, but our preaching cannot save them without God’s grace, and that grace must be sought by prayer.”

2021 presents an unprecedented challenge to the body of Christ. The world is reeling in fear over the Covid pandemic and the church has been all but silenced. I believe the wind of God is blowing on us again and filling us with a fresh courage and mandate. Call for the breath of God and prophesy to this generation.

  1. John 12:23-26 TPT talks about a single grain of wheat abiding by itself, produces nothing, but if it “detaches” from its singularity and goes into the ground (dies to self leading, selfish abiding) it then becomes surrounded with “everything” (looks like dirt, who knew) necessary to grow and reproduce. Abundant Life

  2. I love when the Lord confirms His word!! Mine for this coming year is Pray…pray without ceasing. Blow Mighty Breath of God! 🌬🌬🌬
