“His Resting Place”

MERRY MONDAY BY PARRIS-

“Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life. Then you will be empowered to discover what every holy one experiences—the great magnitude[a] of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions. How deeply intimate and far-reaching is his love! How enduring and inclusive it is! Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding—this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God!” Eph.3:17 TPT

This is Christianity at its best! Plumbing the overflowing love of Christ for the rest of our lives. Intimate love, far reaching into our souls repairing what was lost! What a gospel!
Jonathan Edwards couldn’t say it any better: “But Christ Jesus has true excellency, and so great excellency, that when they come to see it they look no further, but the mind rests there. It sees a transcendent glory and an ineffable sweetness in him; it sees that till now it has been pursuing shadows, but that now it has found the substance; that before it had been seeking happiness in the stream, but that now it has found the ocean. The excellency of Christ is an object adequate to the natural cravings of the soul, and is sufficient to fill the capacity. It is an infinite excellency, such as one as the mind desires, in which it can find no bounds; and the more the mind is used to it, the more excellent it appears. Every new discovery makes this beauty appear more ravishing, and the mind sees no end; here is room enough for the mind to go deeper and deeper, and never come to the bottom. The soul is exceedingly ravished when it first looks on this beauty, and it is never weary of it. The mind never has any satiety, but Christ’s excellency is always fresh and new, and tends as much to delight, after it has been seen a thousand or ten thousand years, as when it was seen the first moment.”
I believe that we must put forth effort, or as the book of Hebrews says; “strive to enter into his rest. Psalm 132:8 says, “Arise, O Lord, into thy rest, thou, and the ark of they strength.” If you allow your mind to wander it won’t take long for you to lose this rest. Keep you gaze on Christ as he leads you out into the water-as always he will take you through!
