Micah 5:2 – But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From everlasting.

Have you ever eaten angel’s food? Maybe you have and weren’t quite sure what it was. The manna that the children of Israel ate was called angel’s food. Actually the word ‘manna’ means what is it? The children of Israel ate manna for forty years and still really didn’t understand what the significance was. Jesus Himself said that He was the Bread of Life and if we would eat that bread we would never hunger again. Now here is the point of all of this, Bethlehem means ‘House of Bread’. What a strange sign the Lord gave to us- the Bread of Life is born in a town that happened to be called the House of Bread. Jesus is the very nourishment for our souls, if we eat this Living Bread we will enjoy life forever. Here is how Augustine speaks about this spiritual nourishment.

“In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
O Bread of Angels! From You they get their fill. Full plates all around. From You also they get their breath, their Wisdom, their happiness. So that’s where You are for the Angels.
But where can I find You?
At the back of a roadhouse. Where the animals are housed. Wrapped in a blanket. Laid in a trough. And on whose account?
He nudges the stars, but nurses from the breast.
He fills the Angels, speaks in His Father’s bosom, says nothing in His mother’s lap.
He’ll speak all right, but only when He reaches the right age.
And He’ll fill a Gospel for us. He’ll suffer on account of us. He’ll die because of us. He’ll rise from the dead; it’ll be a sign of our reward to come. He’ll ascend into Heaven right in front of His disciples’ eyes. And He ‘ll come back from Heaven for the Judgment.”

The signs of Christ are literally all around us. He is our bread, our living water, and the very breath that we breathe. Jesus came to give us abundant life; not just better stuff but an ability to taste and see what true life is all about.

  1. Awesome WORD! ✨ ✨ ✨
HE is the feast that He has prepared for us in the midst of our enemies. Daily, I will be satisfied with the Bread of His flesh and my cup will overflow with His life.
