I WILL HELP YOU

Isa.41:13,14 – For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand,
Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’
“Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you people of Israel; I will help you,” declares the LORD, “and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel”.

Once you see it, well, then you see it. The Lord’s willingness and ability to help is unlimited. He loves us infinitely and would do anything to help us. His resources are also unthinkable. Everything that is, belongs to Him and is at His disposal. As far as power is concerned He is omnipotent, all of His power is always on call on our behalf. This reminds me of the last conversation Jesus had with His disciples just before His betrayal and arrest. He told His followers He would not leave them as orphans at His death. He said the Holy Spirit would come, the Paraclete. His very name means Helper. He is our very present help at all times. Here is how Spurgeon says it.

“O my soul, is not this enough? Dost thou need more strength than the omnipotence of the United Trinity? Dost thou want more wisdom than exists in the Father, more love than displays itself in the Son, or more power than is manifest in the influences of the Spirit? Bring hither thine empty pitcher! Surely this well will fill it. Haste, gather up thy wants, and bring them here—thine emptiness, thy woes, thy needs. Behold, this river of God is full for thy supply; what canst thou desire beside? Go forth, my soul, in this thy might. The Eternal God is thine helper!”

Now it’s one thing to know about the helping power of God but in our day to day life, is that help real to you? That’s where the third person of the Trinity come into play. Jesus called Him Allos Paracletos. What that literally means is that there is One just like Me who comes in your times of need as your Helper. The Holy Spirit makes all of this very real to us in our real life situations. As David said, “God is our refuge and strength, a very ready help in trouble”. No matter what obstacles are battering you today, He is able, ready and willing to help. This is what He says and all we need to know, “I will help you”.
