REAL HELP IN THE REAL WORLD

Ps.46:10 – Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

This is probably the first “official” word I received from the Lord. I believe it was 1976 and I was in Bible School in Kerman, California trying to sort out what I was to do after Bible College. Dick Mills was a guest speaker for us on a Sunday afternoon at our school. He called me out of the crowd and gave me this scripture as a word from the Lord. This word set off a series of events that resulted in Parris and I returning to our home in New Orleans. Three years later we started our church which we are still pastoring as we begin 2022. Who would have imagined one word could change everything the way it has!!! God’s word is full of power; one word from the Lord can set you on the adventure of your life. Here are some comments from the Fire Bible on this verse.

“The Hebrew words here can also be translated, “Enough!” (i.e., “Stop”), “Let go” or “Quit holding on” to things that may be distracting or weighing you down spiritually–things that keep you from honoring God and giving him his proper place in your life. Through God’s Word and through individual lives, we have seen enough evidence of God’s presence and power at work for his people. Therefore, we can be at peace in the fact that he has everything under control. God is all-powerful, and one day everyone who ever lives will recognize and acknowledge that fact.”

The power of God’s word is unlimited. In His word there is deliverance for the oppressed and addicted. A word from the Lord can bring direction and specific guidance into your world. His word is also like medicine for our body, there is healing and recovery for all those who feast on His word consistently. In His word we find ready help, specific help for whatever circumstances we find ourselves in.
What kind of situation are you facing today? Look to God’s word. Drink in the written word of God, wait on Him. When you put yourself in an atmosphere dominated by the Word of God a verse will often stand out to you. Take this verse personally as a word just for you. This is where you will find real help in the real world.
