Isa.28:16 – Here’s what the Lord God says:
“Behold, I set in place in Zion a Foundation Stone,
fully tested and proven to be faithful and secure.
And written upon this precious cornerstone is this:
‘Those who trust in him will not act in haste.’
There is a song that we sometimes sing that has a line something like this,
“On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground us sinking sand”. Today’s scripture is a prophetic word from Isaiah speaking to us about our place of safety and rest in the middle of all the storms we may face in this life. In the Passion Translation it brings out the resting quality that works in us when we build our lives on the Solid Rock. Those who trust in Him will not act in haste. What a huge promise. Everyone from the car dealer to the Covid police create an atmosphere of strife that causes us to act in haste or take matters in our own hands. I am resting on the Rock, He is the foundation of my world and because of this peace, is my portion and haste has no place in my life. Here is how Brian Simmons describes this passage.
“The promised one, Jesus Christ, is the Chief Cornerstone on which we rest our faith, because we are those who dwell in Zion’s realm. Believers throughout all time have proven that he is faithful. Or “will never run away (in fear).” Faith, firmly set upon Christ, is patient and never rushes, for faith leaves the timing of all things in God’s hands. Peter quotes this verse, saying, “Whoever believes in him will certainly not be disappointed” (1 Peter 2:6).
If you have spiritual discernment you will clearly see the attack the universal church has experienced the last two years. Today’s prophetic word is spoken specifically to Zion which was referring to the modern day church. Christ is the stone, the foundation stone, that supports His church. Jesus said that even the gates of hell could not defeat His church. So this is where we take our stand, on the Rock who is called Christ. No matter what mandates or pandemics or storms break out, His church is secure. We don’t have to act in haste because Christ is our cornerstone. No matter what comes against us we will stay put – we are resting on the Rock.
