Ps.110:3 – Your people will offer themselves freely

on the day of your power,

in holy garments;

from the womb of the morning,

the dew of your youth will be yours.

As you have heard me say many times, all of creation exists to display the glory of God and to reveal His beauty and attributes. Right now in New Orleans we are in the transition of winter into the beautiful spring; there is really nothing like New Orleans in the springtime. These changing of the seasons picture the changing of spiritual seasons in the world and in His church. It feels as if the church is coming out of the winter dominated by Covid and political/social upheaval. The first hints of spiritual springtime have appeared as multiple college campuses in America are experiencing a move of the Spirit of God. David called these seasons the day of His power. Here is a comment from Jonathan Edwards on today’s verse.

“God hath had it much on his heart, from all eternity, to glorify his dear and only-begotten Son; and there are some special seasons that he appoints to that end, wherein he comes forth with omnipotent power to fulfill his promise and oath to him. Now these are times of remarkable pouring out of his Spirit, to advance his kingdom; such is a day of his power.”

Today’s Psalm connects the day of His power to Christ exalted and seated at the right hand of God. As we look to Him and exalt Him we begin to be drawn in to this glorious new day. Here is what Charles Spurgeon said about connecting the day of the Lord to the enthroned Son of God.

“The realization of this day of power during the time of the Lord’s tarrying is that which we should constantly pray for; and we may legitimately expect it since he ever sits in the seat of honor and power, and puts forth his strength, according to his own word, “My Father works hitherto, and I work.”

What a privelege to be able to live in glorious days like the one we have entered. Embrace the moment, glorify the Lord, offer yourself to be used in any way He wants to use you. We have prayed and waited for the Lord to send us one of His special seasons, as for me, I will embrace this moment with all that I have. Spiritual awakening is the only hope for our nation, political arguments cannot change the hearts of fallen man. Only the power of God revealed in the day of His power can release His armies of volunteers.
