John 5:6,7 – Jesus, upon seeing this man lying there and knowing that he had already been in that condition for a long time, *said to him, “Do you want to get well?” The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”
This poor man had cried out for help for thirty eight years, he wanted someone to help him get into the water when the angels stirred the pool. This is really a picture of all of us, we always look for somebody to fix our situation when some situations can only be fixed by divine intervention. This is where Jesus comes in, He was trying to tell the paralyzed man simply, “I am the man you have been looking for. He is saying that to us again today, “I am that man”.
Today, Jesus is sitting as a man before the Father in heaven as my redeemer. He carried my sin so that I could carry His righteousness. He is our heavenly high priest that has opened the way for us to come before God. He is my Intercessor. He prays for me before I am even aware of my need. He is sitting at the Father’s right hand always pleading my case with the Heavenly Father. He is also my advocate, He is my heavenly attorney always arguing my case before the Father. He is also the baptizer in the Holy Spirit. The anointing that He purchased for us at Calvary flows like a mighty river to all who are thirsty for more of Him.
So going back to the man at the pool of Bethesda, this man he had been looking for was right there. He was the one who washes away all of his sin, he is the one that heals him on the inside and outside, He was the one he could count on no matter what he was facing.
So maybe you have been waiting for somebody to fix your troubles. Maybe you want the government to sort things out for you, good luck with that. Maybe you are waiting for the perfect husband or wife to get you through. All of the time this man, Jesus of Nazareth has been standing in front of you waiting for you to reach out to Him. He will gladly take you into His waters and you will be baptized with His Holy Spirit and turned into another person.
That is the perfect Gospel appeal for today. However, I am sure those that subscribe to this blog are pew people. Jesus is Da Man, nonetheless, you are the man or woman that God has called for such a time as this to stir things up by taking this message to those that are sitting waiting for someone to tell them that Jesus is Da Man they have been waiting for. Go! Stir things up.
