Jn.4:34-38 – Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”

I think about this passage quite often. For those who know me know that this word is connected to my calling as a missionary to New Orleans. This prophetic message has been my food for almost 5 decades. The fact that this hunger for a harvest in NOLA stays with me is a guarantee that it will come to pass. Whenever the Lord puts something in your heart it becomes a self fulfilling prophesy, it becomes the very nourishment of your soul as you dream of the day of its completion. Here is how Brian Simmons describes this word.

“There is a fascinating word play here in the Aramaic. The word Jesus uses isn’t the common word for “food,” but is actually a word that means “nutrients.” It is also a homonym that is more commonly translated “kingdom.” Jesus has a kingdom feast that no one else knows about.”

This kingdom feast is a feast for souls that can actually take over your life. Without its fulfillment the hunger intensifies. Chrysostom captures the hunger Jesus has for the lost in his comment that Jesus transfers to us causing us to long for His harvest here on earth.

“He calls the salvation of men and women his food, showing his great desire that we should be saved. His desire for our salvation is as great as our desire for food.”

So what are you hungry for today? Has the Lord’s hunger for lost souls been deposited inside of you? When I first saw the supernatural altar calls in the early days of Beyond the Grave I knew that this is what I had longed for. I longed for the day when large numbers of the lost will come to the Lord in churches all over this region. That hunger hasn’t diminished over the years, I think something amazing is about to happen in this region.
