KINGDOM, POWER AND GLORY
Matthew 6:13 – And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer is a way to pray that Jesus taught His disciples. It is simple and at the same time profound. It moves from worship, to intimacy, and on to intercession, provision, forgiveness and even deliverance. The finishing phrase acknowledges the kingdom of God, the power of God, and the glory of God. This is how we finish our time of prayer, back to worship where all prayer begins. Here is how Matthew Henry describes this part of the prayer.
“It is a form of praise and thanksgiving. The best pleas with God are his praises; it is the way to obtain further mercy, as it qualifies us to receive it. We praise God and give him glory not because he needs it — he is praised by a world of angels — but because he deserves it. Praise is the work and happiness of heaven, and everyone who wants to go to heaven in the future must begin their heaven now. It is right that we should be full in praising God. True saints never think they can speak honorably enough of God. Ascribing glory to God for ever shows an acknowledgment that it is eternally due and a fervent desire to do it eternally, with the angels and saints above (Ps 71:14).”
This phrase teaches us to acknowledge and magnify the kingdom of God. Paul said, “for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Acknowledging God’s kingdom is acknowledging the moving of the Spirit here and now. The Lord’s Prayer also tells us to recognize the power of God. His power is above all other power, His power is infinite. Honoring and magnifying Him brings us into the power of the Holy Spirit. He finishes His prayer talking about the glory of the Lord. The glory of the Lord is His manifest presence. This is the whole point of prayer, to come into the glory of His presence.
His glory is available to us because of the blood of Jesus. The spirit of adoption has be given to us; this glory is what has now been made available to us. This is the ultimate purpose of our prayer, to come into the glory of the Lord.

“This is the whole point of prayer, to come into the glory of His presence.” Sadly it’s often treated as a drive thru, open window, close window, and if the waiting isn’t to your liking, we pull off.
It was those early mornings in God’s presence, soaking in His peace and joy that laid the foundation of my life in Christ.
Praising the covenant Names of God, and seeing the manifest Glory fill my life with as Yehovah Shalom filled me with peace. Yehovah Nissi going before in battle. Yehovah Tsidkenu establishing me on paths of righteousness, and Yehovah Jireh making provision for the work of the Kingdom in my life today. Seeing the example of Godly leaders pursuing God with all their hearts made me hunger for the deeper things of God and I continue to experience the Power of God through prayer today because Pastor Frank opened that door at 6 am.
