LIGHT SHINES IN THE DARKNESS

1 John 1:3-5 – All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

The birth of Christ stands as the greatest day in all of human history. As John said, “the light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it”. Darkness can never comprehend or overpower light, light comes and darkness flees. Today I want to talk about the first verse of my Christmas poem of 2023.

LIGHT

ALIVE WITH BRIGHTNESS

SHINING WITH REVELATION

HEAVY WITH GLORY

BURNING WITH LIFE

This light that John is speaking of is alive, it is alive with the life of God because it is God. God is light. When the light of God begins to penetrate the darkness of our souls life is the result, we become alive with the brightness of God. The Apostle Paul actually called Jesus the radiance of the glory of God, He is the outshining of God Himself. Jesus Himself said He is the Light of the World. At the entrance of His light we become alive.
This light is shining with revelation. Before Jesus came into our lives we wandered in darkness. Now that His light has opened our eyes we can begin to see. We see who Jesus is, the Son off God and Savior of the world. We see the power of God’s word, we perceive that this word is alive just as the Light is alive. We also see the importance and glory of the church rather than being only aware of its failures. Our world view changes since Jesus is the light of the world.
This light is heavy with glory. The light of God has substance and is weighty. It is the substance that brings authenticity into our lives.
This light is burning with life. Everyone who is effected by the true light becomes a lover of God. Worship becomes their joy as their hearts have been won by His love. This is how you really know that His light is real, you become a true lover of God. This Christmas we are celebrating 2023 years since Jesus was born (if the calendars are right). The world can be a very dark place for those who have not been awakened by His light. Let His light shine in you and through you this Christmas season.
