Ps.55:22 – Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you;
This is one of the great promises found in the Psalms, roll your care onto the Lord and He will sustain you. The picture painted here is of someone being crushed by their troubles, we have all been there too many times to count. David says we are to throw our troubles, or if necessary, just roll them onto the Lord. He not only will take your trouble, He will also pick you up and carry you along. Here is how Samuel Blackerby from 1674 describes this amazing promise.
“The best way to ease thyself is to lay thy load upon God; he will take it up and also carry thee. There is many a man would be willing to go of himself if another would but carry his burden for him; but if you throw your burden upon God he will not only carry that, but will also carry you. He cares not how much weight a Christian layeth on his back; a true Israelite may ease himself, and best please his God at once. God delights not to see tears in thine eyes, or paleness in thy countenance; thy groans and sighs make no music in his ears. He had rather that thou wouldst free thyself of thy burden by casting it upon him, that he might rejoice in thy joy and comfort. Now, true confidence in God, and resting upon God, will both free thee of thy burden and also bring in the strength of God to sustain and bear thee up from falling. Wouldst thou, therefore, own God as thy strength, and fetch strength from God to thy soul? rest upon God, roll thyself upon him…”
This promise is really a picture of our entire Christian walk. It’s not just for special seasons alone that we cast our troubles on the Lord, this becomes our daily way of life. A great lesson to learn is that we need Him in all that we do. Thinking we have everything except the really hard stuff is a huge mistake. He loves for us to need Him, this is where the Lord is most glorified. I cast my troubles on the Lord, He picks me up and carries me along. I get two benefits, He deals with my problems and His nearness becomes my joy.

Amen.
How awesome is the Lord to carry my burdens and me. God is good and faithful. I pray that I will continue to praise Him as long as I am alive.
