GOD’S APPOINTED TIME

Acts 2:1-4 – When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

When the Day of Pentecost had “fully come”. This could be translated as when the Day of Pentecost was being fulfilled. The entire Old Testament is types and shadows pointing to the true reality found in the work and ministry of Jesus. The Old Testament feast of Pentecost was a celebration of the giving of the law and the beginning of the harvest. That celebration was pointing to the fulfillment in the work of Jesus at Calvary that brought us the outpouring of the Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. That outpouring marked the beginning of the harvest that will be complete at the return of Jesus Christ. Here is how Vincent’s word book followed by the notes from The Passion describe this.

“The day, according to the Hebrew mode, is conceived as a measure to be filled up. So long as the day had not yet arrived, the measure was not full. The words denote in process of fulfillment.”

“Or “came to be fulfilled.” The Greek word means “to fill completely (to be fulfilled).” Pentecost was one of the main feasts of Israel. The name is derived from pentekostos, which means “fiftieth,” since it was held on the fiftieth day after the Passover Sabbath. It was also known as the Feast of Harvest.”

We are now in the final portion of this Pentecostal outpouring and the final harvest of souls. I believe the final phase from God’s perspective began when the Lord poured out His Spirit at Azusa Street in 1906 beginning a worldwide Pentecostal outpouring. Living in America in 2025 we may be cloistered and simply not in touch with the Pentecostal outpouring happening all over the world. I am confident that another strong Pentecostal wave will hit our country and sweep the USA into a last days Pentecostal outpouring and a great harvest of souls. What shall we do in the meantime? Seek the Lord in private and corporate prayer and do our best to reach the lost.
