Rev.14:3 – And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
Those that know and love worship know that there is a sound behind the obvious sound of music and singing that can only be heard by those who have ears to hear. It is the sweetest sound on this side of heaven, it is the voice of the Lord over us and in us as we sing God’s supernatural song of redemption.
This week we have been having nightly meetings at our church. The worship has been beyond words; not because of the talent of the singers and musicians but because of that distinct heavenly sound that has become louder and louder to those who have entered in. What makes the worship so unique is simply this, the Lord lives in this worship. David and John called it the new song, its the song that can only be heard and sung by those who have tasted of God’s heavenly gift. Here is how Jonathan Edwards describes this supernatural worship.
“The melody of the heart with which they sing is new. Before they knew but how to sing praise to God: they were unlearned; they could make no melody in God’s ear; they had no skill in divine music; they had not learned the tune, nor could they sound one harmonious note. Their hearts were like an instrument that is unstrung and broken, wholly out of tune. The notes were most jarring and discordant. If they pretended to sing praise to God, it was howling and not singing in God’s ears.
But now God has put their hearts in tune. Now there is some inward harmony. Now there is divine harmony that is melodious unto God.”
Music and singing are a gift given to us by the Lord. It is the way we express our deepest beliefs and feelings whether it is a secular love song or a passionate song of worship. Allowing this spiritual song to take over your life is entirely transformative. As we pour out our hearts to the Lord His presence begins to break in on us and then He works His wonders in our life. Entering into the song of heaven is where true life exists right here and right now; it is simply a taste of heaven and all of the inheritance that we will enjoy forever.

The meetings this week…. can I call it a deep cleaning followed by a tune up with an extra gear or two added. It’s so good to see others who possess an attribute of our sonship that we want to grow into. More Lord! As far as the worship, I know your value placed on that has always been tuned in to what it should be. We truly have been blessed with that anointing since our churches inception. Our worship leader has taken us to an even greater intimacy by way of the oil overflow in her.
