SEATED IN VICTORY

Ps.110:1 – The LORD says to my Lord:

“Sit at My right hand

Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”

This passage from one of David’s Psalms is the most quoted Old Testament passage in the New Testament. What is it about this verse that caused the apostles to cling to it? Remember the last time the disciples had seen Jesus? It was when He ascended into heaven. This was the resulting scene in heaven, Jesus at the right hand of the Father. This is also the scene John witnessed when he was caught up before the throne in Revelation 4 where Jesus proceeded to open the 7 seals on the scroll from the Father’s hand. The opening of the seals unveiled the conclusion to this age and the beginning of the age to come. Christ taking His place in heaven cannot be overestimated, this is the beginning of the kingdom of God on earth. Here is how Jack Hayford describes this scene.

“Some time ago, I presented a series on the ascended Christ to my church. I turned to Revelation 5 and noted that there is strong evidence that this passage records the moment that Jesus first stepped back into heaven, having returned from earth at the time of the Ascension—following His death and resurrection.

On the Lamb “bearing the marks of slaughter,” the remaining signs of angry wounds were still freshly visible. They were healed, but they were recent. You may say, “Wait just a minute. How can that be since John saw this vision in A.D. 80 or 85?” But remember, when John stepped through that door into the presence of God, he stepped into eternity, the realm of timelessness. Just as he was about to view events thousands of years in the future, he could equally look back at events that took place half a century before. In the realm of timelessness, he was unrestricted by his immediate time frame. So he saw the warrior King who has gained the right to take the scroll.”

I love the security and peace I have when seeing Christ seated on His throne. The opening of these seals releases the most chaotic time in history on earth, through it all Jesus reigns on His throne as the Sovereign King. Nothing can stop Him, His kingdom is prevailing, His harvest is certain, and His people are volunteering in the day of His power.
