SEEING GOD’S HANDIWORK IN YOU

Eph.2:10 – TPT – We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!

Eph.2:10 – AMPC – For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship),recreated in Christ Jesus,

Eph.2:10 – For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

This word has always held a special place in Parris’s and my life. It actually was given to Parris as a word from the Lord by our friend and mentor Dick Mills the first time we met him. Dick called Parris and me out of the crowd at our Bible School and gave each of us a word. Mine was “Be still and know that I am God”. Parris’ word was Ephesians 2:10, “You are God’s work of art”. This was the first time we were around a prophet and especially one who gave scripture out as words from the Lord for you. For those of you familiar with my ministry you know how much influence Brother Mills has had on our lives. We learned a love for God’s written word in multiple translations from him as well as the importance of studying Bible words in their original language. Here is a word study from Brother Mills on the word workmanship from today’s verse.

“Workmanship, poiēma: From the verb poieō, “to make.” (Cf. “poem” and “poetry.”) The word signifies that which is manufactured, a product, a design produced by an artisan. Poiēma emphasizes God as the Master Designer, the universe as His creation (Rom. 1:20), and the redeemed believer as His new creation”(Eph. 2:10). Before conversion, our lives had no rhyme or reason. Conversion brought us balance, symmetry, and order. We are God’s poem, His work of art.’

This verse describes God’s creativity working in each individual Christian. This word has been a confirmation over the years, specifically in Parris’ life about His beautiful work that He is doing in her. This work has affected many others over the years, especially women who have been transformed by the Lord through God’s work in Parris’ life. You too are God’s masterpiece, His work of art, unique and different from everyone else.
