Matt.28:1-4 – Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
Something historic and beyond human understanding happened that first Easter morning. The same power that created the universe raised Jesus of Nazareth up from the dead. He had been secured in a tomb, sealed with a giant stone, and guarded by Roman soldiers. The power of God raised Jesus from the dead, the stone was rolled away, the soldiers shook and fell down as dead, and the earth itself began to tremble under the power of God. The linen clothes that wrapped the body of Jesus were left in the tomb, some people today believe that there was a photographic image of Christ at the instant of resurrection left on the burial clothes, this cloth is called the Shroud of Turin. If this is true what could have left this impression? Here is a short explanation from Paolo Di Lazzaro, a scientist from Rome as quoted by Jeremiah Johnson in his book ‘The Jesus Discoveries’.
“Paolo Di Lazzaro and his team at ENEA Labs in Rome spent five years trying to answer what formed the image on the Shroud. I spent a few days with Paolo in Turin and interviewed him for our documentary film. He is a physicist of the first order. His life’s work has focused on laser, power, and energy, and his lab worked with flax grown from first-century genetic seed stock. After hundreds of failed attempts, they concluded it would take a burst of 34,000 billion watts of radiant energy delivered in one 40-billionth of a second to create the image—and that’s only to match the superficial coloration of the outermost linen fibers. No one has that technology. No one.”
Apparently the Lord has left an irrefutable sign of the resurrection of His Son Jesus; and why not? There were 500 witnesses testifying in the first century that they had seen Jesus after the resurrection. I believe the Shroud of Turin could very well be a sign to this generation confirming the resurrection of Christ.

I remember the man who came to Victory and shared the message of the Shroud of Turin. I believe his first name was Ken; he was an African American. After his presentation which included slid pictures of the shroud; he prayed for the sick. My little granddaughter, Erin, had an infected fingernail. She was two or three years old then and on antibiotics at the time. However, the infection wasn’t healed. The doctors told my son and daughter in law that they would have to drill through the nail in order for the nail and finger to heal. Erin was with me at the service and I brought her up for prayer. Ken prayed for her and the finger was healed.
P.S. Erin is a Bio/Chemist. She does research. She needed her finger healed!
