Heb.11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
We have been looking at the titles of Jesus throughout Hebrews this week. In this verse Christ is seen as our REWARDER, I think of Him not just as the REWARDER but the Reward Himself. He is our portion and the One that satisfies our soul.
He is THE REWARDER of those who diligently seek Him: Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” God has provided something better for us. The greatest reward not being the blessings He bestows, but in God Himself.
Jesus is THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER of our faith: Hebrews 12:2, “…looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Our salvation started with Jesus, is being perfected by Him, and will be brought to completion in Him.
The Lord is THE GREAT SHEPHERD OF THE SHEEP:Hebrews 13:20-21, “Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” Jesus is our constant companion and cares for us as a shepherd cares for his sheep.
The book of Hebrews closes with the powerful declaration: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Heb. 13:8). Everything Jesus was to the Jewish believers nearly two thousand years ago, He remains to us today, and even more. For the believer who holds fast to Jesus, the Anchor of the soul, who does not shrink back but perseveres in their confession of faith, there is great reward, not only in this life but in the life to come. Therefore let us lift up our heads, fix our eyes on heaven, and Consider Jesus once again.
