ANGELS WE HAVE HEARD ON HIGH

Lk.2:10-12 – Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

I decided to dive into the Christmas story in the Bible this year during the month of December. Like the rest of the scripture it is filled with layers of revelation. In today’s passage we see a startling visitation of angels. Sometimes these Bible stories can become old to us if we do not have revelation. If you think about it how could stories of angelic visitation become stale or boring? If you read this passage about the angels and the shepherds the words can actually begin to come alive to you. Angels, really; thousands of them – quite unbelievable. What kind of event would cause such a stir? The shepherds knew that their life, literally no one’s life, could ever be the same after this. Here is how Martin Luther described this moment in time.

“We can learn from this song what kind of creatures the angels are. Here they have all been painted in such a way that they could not be painted better, so that even their heart and thoughts may be known. First, when they sing glory to God with joy, they show how full of light and fire they are. They acknowledge that all things are God’s alone, attributing nothing to themselves; instead with great fervor they give the glory only to him to whom it belongs. Therefore if you want to think of a humble, pure, obedient and joyful heart praising God, think of the angels. This is the first part of their walk before God.
The second part is their love for us. . . Here you see what great and gracious friends they are for us. They favor us no less than themselves; they rejoice in our salvation almost as if it were their own, so that in this song they give us a comforting inducement to wish the best for them as for the best of friends.”

So we get a glimpse into the world of angels in this passage. We see that they are fiery creatures, similar to the seraphim, that burn with passion and fire for the Lord. They live in a realm of worship, quite different from any thing on earth. How could they not be worshippers, they come from the immediate presence of our Creator God. Next we see that the angels have a compassion and interest in humans. They are sent to minister to us and that is one of their primary functions. They simply love and serve people. So that special night was exactly that, very special. These angels were doing what they do best; worshipping, serving, and proclaiming. Maybe we can learn a lesson from the angels.

  1. Hey everybody, as I was reading my bible today I came across in revelation chapter 8 verse 13 it says as I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out a loud voice “woe! woe!woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!” look out everybody!

  2. I could never forget when I saw angels after a recording session rehearsal at Victory Fellowship. I played my 12 stringed guitar that night; Georgian Banov, Ty Tyler, Paul Meany, James Vincent Jr., and Sal Giordano we’re leading the band and choir. Anyway, as we were worshiping, I saw in the Heavenly realm, huge orbs that were assigned to the above mentioned people, dancing to the leading sounds. Afterwards, I was shaking so much that I couldn’t make it to the car. I’d fallen on the floor and was looking up with my eyes open, I saw the dancing giant orbs through the building. I remember my Son trying to show me his coloring from his class/care. I couldn’t move. Finally, when it was really time to go, Umberto Diaz and Jacob, mySon helped me get my guitar and speaker into the car. I was shaking all the way home. I called Georgian and to the best of my ability told him what was happening, and then prophetic words came out of my being.
On Sunday morning I made it to the choir stand before the first note was played. Pastor Frank called me to tell about my experience, I was still shaking. The usher Mike Perlermo, helped me as best he could to get to the Mike, I spoke sitting on the floor; the word was that “we have to use our God given talents to make it in this world”. At the time, I was making/selling praline topped sweet potato pies (a way to be available to pick up my Son from school).
As I recall, I saw in the spirit what seraphim are like. There were two, one on each side of the choir. My life has always been than most people that I know. Seeing angels gives me a perspective of life from a different ‘angle’. This life on Earth is simplified; All we have to do is consistently Worship and serve others ~ the Heavenly Hosts is with us> as it is in Heaven
