FROM THE FIRST DAY TO THE LAST DAY

FROM THE FIRST DAY TO THE LAST DAY

DEUT. 11:12 …a land that the LORD your God cares for. The eyes of the LORD your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.

This scripture has always grabbed my attention as we end one year and begin another. I love the personal and intimate nature of this verse. The Lord is watching me, He is observing every detail and every moment of my life. He was there when I was born, He was there all throughout my childhood, He was there watching me in my rebellious years, He has been watching me all throughout my spiritual journey, He will watch over me until my last dying breath. He has cared for me daily all throughout my life. According to this verse, His eye is on everyday of 2014. I can truly rest in His love. Here is some thoughts from Gill on this powerful verse.

“In a very particular and special manner; otherwise he has a general care of the whole world, and all the parts of it; for as the earth is his, and the fullness thereof, his providential care reaches everywhere; but as this spot was what he had chosen for his own residence, and the place of his worship, and for an habitation for his peculiar people; he exercised a more peculiar care over it, to make it fruitful, commodious, and pleasant; or which “he seeketh”; that is, the good of it, and to make it convenient, useful, and delightful to his people; yea, which he sought for and desired for his own habitation, the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year; his eyes of providence, to give the former and the latter rain, and that there be seedtime and harvest in their seasons, and that the fruits of it be produced at their proper time; some at the beginning, others at the end of the year, and others in the intervening months, and all wisely suited to the good of the inhabitants of it.”

I can remember the first time anyone gave me a specific “word from The Lord” It was 1976 and it was a scripture given to me by Dick Mills. It was Psa. 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” This word was very timely for me. I was stressing out, trying to make some decisions about what to do with my life at the end of Bible School. The Lord used this verse to cause me to rest. I saw that The Lord was intimately involved in my life, like today’s scripture, His eyes were on every day of my life.
As you begin 2014 I want to encourage you; trust in The Lord, rest in The Lord, His plans and His promises are sure.

  1. Awesome words for yesterday and today. I was thinking about the phrase “God has a plan for my life”. It’s a good phrase and often used. As I was planning my day in my mind and stressing out thinking about all I have to do, I believe the Lord spoke to me saying “I have so much more planned for you than just your life. My love and caring for you stretches to eternity. I’ve got everything taken care of for you.” What a peace that thought was to me that God’s loving care was forever. Thanks for your daily posts. They always encourage me trust the Lord.
