Mark 5:28-30 – For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
Sometimes I just have to go back to the good old King James Bible. Today’s verse is from the KJV where the dunamis power of God is described as virtue. Jesus perceived virtue had flowed out from Him when someone touched Him. The woman who touched Jesus felt the power of God’s virtue flow into her and heal her body. This virtue in today’s verse is actually the anointing of the Holy Spirit. What is the anointing? It is the manifestation of God’s nature here in our world. His nature is perfect goodness, the anointing is the manifestation of the very goodness of God. If you remember when Solomon’s temple was dedicated they sang one of David’s Psalms again and again, the words they repeated was “the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever”. That’s when the anointing, the shekinah glory of God, fell in the temple. It is His goodness that touches and heals us of all of our maladies. Here is how Kathryn Kuhlman describes this.
“I’ve heard “virtue” described as a “specific kind of goodness” or “gracious characteristic.” This is a true description of what we are discussing. However, the goodness in this instance is the divine nature—the perfection, holiness and righteousness of Almighty God. Think of it!
This is the point where many fail in their understanding of how God works in the healing of the body, or in answering prayer. Whether it be the restoration of a body or a petition for blessing, Christians fail to see that they’re asking God to touch them with a high voltage of absolute purity—the power of perfect holiness. This is what we’re talking about when we talk about the Lord’s “virtue.” “Let me reiterate: believers obtain healing virtue through Christ alone. All that is accomplished for you by the Spirit is done in the name of Jesus. The Holy Spirit always leads you to give Jesus all the glory for your healing. This needs to be clearly understood. The Holy Spirit is carrying out the injunction of Jesus when He blesses, keeps, and heals you. Remember that Jesus sent the Spirit to us from the Father.”
This is why I love church so much, the goodness of the Lord falls during corporate worship, when this happens anything is possible. If you are filled with depression, He will replace that with joy. If you are struggling with believing for a miracle His goodness will awaken your faith. If you just feel like you can’t go on he will strengthen you to run your race with joy. The goodness of the Lord is what our soul longs for, draw near in worship and let His virtue make you whole.

Lord just one touch. Do it again Lord.
It’s the ‘draw near in worship’ for me. If I don’t take my guitar and worship at home, the River of God flowing in me turns into a little stream.
Praising and thanking God with a pure heart of worship opens up the flow of the Holy Spirit in us, healing our souls to continue towards Heaven
