HOW GREAT IS HIS GOODNESS?!

Ps.31:19 – How great is Your goodness,
Which You have stored up for those who fear You,
Which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You,
Before the sons of men!

Almost a year ago our church began to experience an unprecedented breakthrough, especially in the area of finance. It was such a sign and wonder to us that we declared a Year of Jubilee for our congregation beginning last August. As I was reflecting on this verse today from Ps. 31
I began to remember the extreme blessing we began to experience last year. This verse describes the Lord’s stored up goodness for those who belong to Him. This idea of ‘stored up’ has a sense of provision and blessing beginning in this life and continuing into eternity. Jesus spoke about storing up treasures in heaven, this is exactly what this verse is describing. We receive amazing breakthrough and provision in this life but the Lord’s goodness and supply is not depleted. There is still an infinite amount of goodness stored up for this life and the one to come. Here is how Matthew Henry describes this.

“O how great is thy goodness! How deep are its counsels! How rich are its treasures! How freely and widely is it shown! God often loads with benefits and honors those very people whom others burden with slander. Those who have a share in this goodness are described as those who fear God and trust in him, who stand in awe of his greatness and depend on his grace. This goodness is said to be laid up for them and wrought for them. There is a goodness stored up for them in the other world, an inheritance reserved in heaven, and there is a goodness they receive in this world, a goodness worked in them. There is enough in God’s goodness both for the inheritance of all his children when they come to their maturity and for their maintenance and education while they are still growing up. There is enough in the bank and also enough in hand.”

I really like that, “There is enough in the bank and also enough in hand.” I feel like we are experiencing that goodness from His hand in our season of Jubilee, the good news is this is not even a fraction of what is stored up for us in heaven. His goodness is endless reaching above the highest heaven and also reaching to our deepest need right here right now.
