Lk.9:30,31 – And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah, who, appearing in glory, were speaking of His departure, which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
There are crossroad moments in our lives where we want to be certain that we are making the right choices, more than that we want to be sure we are making God choices. That’s what this was for Jesus, He was making His final decision about why He was here as a man in the first place, He wanted to be certain that this was the plan of God. It’s amazing to me just how the Lord meets us, His timing is perfect and His answers are thorough and complete. In this moment of Jesus’ life He wasn’t dazzled with the Transfiguration display or even the shining cloud. What got his attention was the law and the prophets, Moses and Elijah, for us it would be the written word of God. This was the final authority in the life of Jesus, “Thus saith the Lord’. Thats all He needed to answer all of His questions. Here is how Barclay describes this scene.
“HERE we have another of the great hinges in Jesus’ life upon earth. We must remember that he was just about to set out to Jerusalem and to the cross. We have already looked at one great moment when he asked his disciples who they believed him to be, in order that he might discover if anyone had realized who he was. But there was one thing Jesus would never do – he would never take any step without the approval of God. In this scene that is what we see him seeking and receiving.
What happened on the Mount of Transfiguration we can never know, but we do know that something tremendous did happen. Jesus had gone there to seek the approval of God for the decisive step he was about to take. There Moses and Elijah appeared to him. Moses was the great law-giver of the people of Israel; Elijah was the greatest of the prophets. It was as if the princes of Israel’s life and thought and religion told Jesus to go on.”
This passage hold a great key to following the Lord for all of us. At the end of all of our questions and people’s opinions what does God’s written word, the Law and the Prophets, have to say. This is the guidance and confirmation needed in all of our lives.

We need not say more than yes Lord.
