Ps.45:1 – TPT – My heart is on fire, boiling over with passion. bubbling up within me are these beautiful lyrics as a lovely poem to be sung for the King. Like a river bursting its banks, I’m overflowing with words, spilling out into this sacred story.
Ps.25:1 – My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
David’s life could be summed up as living by the word and the Spirit. He was anointed by the prophet Samuel when he was still just in his teens. He had learned to listen to the word of the Lord spoken by Samuel just as we today we give heed to God’s written word. From the day that the anointing of the Lord fell on David, prophesy was part of who David was. His songs were literally his heart overflowing with joy and the prophetic word of God. David spoke of Jesus the Messiah in great detail 1000 years before Jesus was born. He spoke of His death in great detail, described Him as the Good Shepherd, and spoke of His heavenly ministry in his famous Psalm 110. This is how Matthew Henry describes the prophetic writing of David:
“We call the prophets the writers of Scripture, whereas in reality, they were only the pens. The tongue of the most fluent arguer or the most eloquent orator is only the pen with which God writes what He pleases. Why should we quarrel with the pen if bitter things are written against us, and why should we put the pen on a pedestal if it writes in our favor? David not only spoke what he thought of Christ, but also wrote it, so that it might spread further and last longer. His tongue was like the pen of a skillful writer, who omits nothing. When the heart is stirred by a noble theme, it is a pity if the tongue is not like the pen of a ready writer (v. 1), ready to leave it on record.”
So what can we learn from David and his relationship to the Word and Spirit? Like David listened to Samuel, we can receive from anointed men and women that the Lord brings into our lives. We can saturate ourselves in God’s words, Psalms is a great resource for this, and draw near to the presence of God like David loved to do. If you are full of the Word of God and full of the Spirit – prophecy will be the result.

Psalms 45 is beautifully written and speaks of the wedding of Jesus Christ and his church . Pentecost also speaks of the wedding super . Is the return of Christ for his bride closer than we think ?
