THE ANGEL’S SONG

Lk.2:8-14 – Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

“Glory to God in the highest,

And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

One of the obvious characteristics of our Christmas celebrations every year are the songs. That is probably the greatest expression we have of the joy of Christmas is the singing of all of the Christmas songs. This tradition began long ago on that first Silent Night in Bethlehem. It all began with a supernatural song that introduced the birth of Christ. The angels were singing and their voices pierced the night with God’s glory. Today I want to talk about the second verse of my Christmas poem for 2023, it is about that first Christmas song.

SONG

AROUND US AND IN US

PULSATING WITH GOODNESS

THE SONG OF CREATION

BURSTING WITH JOY

This first Christmas song was an awesome display of the supernatural day that was being introduced. This was literally an invasion of earth by the very atmosphere of heaven, God came down in the song of the angels. If you have ever experienced a moment similar to this the song itself is all around you and enters inside of you. You are captured by the song and actually become a part of this heavenly moment. The song itself is permeated with the goodness of God. It is not only about His goodness but is actually distributing His goodness by the very essence of the song. The song is the song of creation, the creation itself enters into God’s supernatural song. The angels could not contain themselves, they were literally bursting with joy at the announcement of the birth of the Savior, how much more does this joy overwhelm us as we enter into God’s heavenly song.

Don’t miss the joy of Christmas this year, listen carefully to the songs of joy from Christmas past. You too can join in with the angel’s song.
