Heb.10:19,20 – Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh,
This passage holds the answer to walking in a fresh new relationship with the Lord. The key to this passage is the veil or the flesh of man pictured by the torn flesh of Christ. There are two important points seen in this passage that can bring us into a consistent life of living behind the veil. The first is by coming in through the blood of Jesus. This is the place we rest our faith, I have access to the Lord by faith in His blood. The second key is often overlooked, Jesus called it carrying the cross. What does that mean? It means denying our fleshly appetites in order to follow Christ more closely. This is the life Jesus lived, it is a choice that we make. Once our eyes are awakened by faith in His blood we are enabled to walk in His steps. This inevitably brings us to the cross and the tearing of our own flesh. Here is how Andrew Murray describes this.
“The death of Jesus was not only the dedication or inauguration of the new sanctuary and of the new covenant, but also of the new way into the holy presence and fellowship of God. Whoever in faith accepts of the blood He shed as His boldness of entrance, must accept, too, of the way He opened up as that in which he walks. And what was that way? The way through the veil, that is, His flesh. The veil is the flesh. The veil that separated man from God was the flesh, human nature under the power of sin. Christ came in the likeness of sinful flesh, and dwelt with us here outside the veil. The Word was made flesh. He also Himself in like manner partook of flesh and blood. In the days of His flesh, He was tempted like as we are; He offered prayer and supplication with strong crying and tears. He learned obedience even to the death. Through the rent veil of His flesh, His will, His life, as yielded up to God in death, He entered into the holiest”.
This is where experiential Christianity comes alive, entering in by the blood of Jesus and then picking up our cross to follow Jesus. These keys are both critical if we want to enjoy the new and living way. This is the path of true Christianity.
