IS HELL REAL?

IS HELL REAL?

The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.
Matt.13:41-43

No one wants to think about hell or eternal suffering, it is not a topic at church, funerals, or seldom comes up in our daily conversations. To bring up the subject, or even worse, tell someone you think it is real, can cause tension, anger, and rejection. You will be labeled as narrow minded, religious, and void of love. That is quite strange in light of the One whose words I quoted in today’s verse. Jesus is the embodiment of the Father’s love, He displayed His love for sinners by His death on the cross. He believed in eternal suffering in hell and took great measures to warn us about it. What determines the measure of our crimes against God and what kind of suffering does justice demand? Our punishment is correctly estimated by the value of the person we have sinned against and the great depths we have plummeted to in violating this great and holy God. Jonathan Edwards preached a message about the justice of God revealed by hell, listen to his words.

“But God is a being infinitely lovely, because he hath infinite excellency and beauty. To have infinite excellency and beauty, is the same thing as to have infinite loveliness. He is a being of infinite greatness, majesty, and glory; and therefore he is infinitely honorable. He is infinitely exalted above the greatest potentates of the earth, and highest angels in heaven; and therefore he is infinitely more honorable than they. His authority over us is infinite; and the ground of his right to our obedience is infinitely strong; for he is infinitely worthy to be obeyed himself, and we have an absolute, universal, and infinite dependence upon him.
So that sin against God, being a violation of infinite obligations, must be a crime infinitely heinous, and so deserving of infinite punishment.- Nothing is more agreeable to the common sense of mankind, than that sins committed against any one, must be proportionably heinous to the dignity of the being offended …”

The good news is that there is another way to satisfy the justice of God. Christ became man, represented us as a people, and took the wrath of God aimed at our sins by His death on the cross. God’s justice was satisfied and His mercy extended to all who will believe on Him. The decision is yours, accept His offer or spend eternity fulfilling the justice of sins against an infinitely, holy God.
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” Jn.3:36

  1. The bible says we will here about wars and rumors of war, they will have famines, naturaul disasters, and talks about heaven and hell for eternity. All these things are going on now. Is there a hell ? I believe so. I been by campfires that were so hot I had to scoot back, can you imagine not being able to scoot back and have to sit in a fire for eternity? I can in a since but won’t experience it , I’m gonna ride out on a white horse to the gates of heaven me.

  2. There was a time, a life ago, when I didn’t think much of heaven or hell. My false sense of security insulated me from this eternal reality. Amazingly, at the moment I met Jesus hell became real. I saw one foot in hell and the other on a banana peel! Even this cliché was untrue. In God’s realm, or dare I say outside of time which was created for us, there is only NOW. I was in hell and Jesus unlocked the gates so I could be with Him.
I received a glimpse of propitiation at our men’s retreat and was urged to dig deeper into its meaning. WOW! It took an eternal God wrapped in flesh to satisfy eternal wrath for the payment of sin. A totally just God being totally merciful making a way for a totally sinful creation to once again be totally righteous and experience what completes us – relationship with our Father God.
Only focusing on God’s love and mercy distorts who He is and keeps us from the truth. Some would rather lye to themselves and others for various reasons but in the end Hebrews 9:27.
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment

  3. Thank you P Frank for addressing this serious issue. People seem to be double minded. If they’re the victim of a horrible crime, they cry out for justice, but when they’re the criminal suddenly it’s don’t judge me, just forgive me cause I’m trying to be a good person now. If we could only see that without Christ’s salvation, we’re just criminals on death row waiting for our sentence to be carried out. Oh how we need Jesus our Savior!

  4. Hello Pastor Frank

I have attended various churches and never have I ever hear of a preaching on the subject about hell. Maybe we shouldn’t be scarying people? Many believe that there is really only heaven and no hell. I think we are being decieved somehow.

I am here to affirm that hell is real because I know that demons are real. I am not here to simply quote scriptures but to testify that the Bible is real about hell. So if there is hell there must also be heaven. This means we have a choice to make. I hope you would take the time to read this short story / testimony, YOUR CHOICE YOUR DESTINY and you’ll see what I am saying.
