Amos 9:13 – Look, the days are coming —
this is the LORD’s declaration —
when the plowman will overtake the reaper
and the one who treads grapes,
the sower of seed.
This verse is part of Amos’s prophesy about the Tabernacle of David and God’s plan to bring a great and final harvest through His local church in the whole earth. The whole point of this prophesy is its supernatural nature, the Lord will move on the hearts of people all over the earth and unprecedented harvest will happen suddenly. There will be an obvious sense of God among His people that will play a huge role in this. The simple gospel will be preached and the response will not be because of great preachers but a magnificent sense of God Himself among us. Amos was actually a farmer and the Lord showed him this amazing harvest in terms and pictures he would understand. Amos had never seen a harvest in his farm where the plowman would overtake the reaper. Think about it, the plowing starts before the harvest can be gathered because the harvest from last season was so enormous. This is what Amos saw happening at the end of the age. Here is how Spurgeon describes it.
“…God is absolute monarch over the hearts of people. God does not say here if people are willing, but he gives an absolute promise of a blessing. As much as to say, “I have the key of men’s hearts; I can induce the plowman to overtake the reaper; I am Master of the soil—however hard and rocky it may be, I can break it, and I can make it fruitful.” When God promises to bless his church and to save sinners, he does not add, “If the sinners are willing to be saved.” No, God leads free will in sweet captivity, and his free grace is all-triumphant. Sure, people do have a free will, and God does not violate it; but the free will is sweetly bound with chains of the divine love until it becomes freer than it ever was before. The Lord, when he means to save sinners, does not stop to ask them whether they want to be saved—but like a rushing mighty wind, the divine influence sweeps away every obstacle; the unwilling heart bends before the forceful gust of grace, and sinners who would not yield are made to yield by God!”
I believe we will see significant changes in churches over the years to come. I predict simplicity will be the order of the day. What does that mean? Preaching of the gospel message, extended worship as the Lord comes among us, lost people coming to church and meeting Christ in profound ways that will bring permanent change in their lives resulting in entire families being saved. We are entering new territory, the territory described by Amos.

Wow, this is news of great consequence. I woke up this morning praying almost immediately for the salvation of many with an emphasis towards my family. I believe in the suddenly’s of our God, what are decades when a thousand years are the same as a day to our Savior.
No, God leads free will in sweet captivity, and his free grace is all-triumphant.
🥰🥰🥰 I love this!
