Acts 2:19,20 – I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath:
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.

I was driving into town Friday and heard something on the radio that made me slow down and turn the volume up on the radio; the voice on the radio said “we just had an earthquake in New York”. I went to college across the river from New York City and I never remember the word earthquake even mentioned. As I thought for a moment I remembered the solar eclipse coming this Monday, April 8, 2024, and I began to draw some conclusions. The path of the solar eclipse is passing just west of the epicenter of this earthquake, do you think that this could be part of the signs in the heavens and signs on the earth?
I also heard it said that there had not been a complete solar eclipse in New York for 99 years, the earthquake is unsurpassed there in about the last 250 years. To top it all off there is a plague of locusts coming in May through June not comparable to anything since the time of Thomas Jefferson. Maybe something is brewing. Here is part of an article from the Intelligencer writer Sarah Jones. It’s kind of a spoof but maybe not…

“As you may have experienced or heard on Twitter, an earthquake in New Jersey rattled New York City and the surrounding area. My cats were very upset, as was I, because I have a crushing anxiety disorder and thought I was about to die in a nuclear explosion. But we have survived, and now I and the aforementioned disorder must query this: Is this the End Times? As Intelligencer’s official Rapture correspondent, I have to admit I’m concerned. We had floods earlier this week. A solar eclipse is imminent, as is a plague of locusts. Eric Adams is the mayor. It’s all very troubling! And so I return to the Scriptures for guidance, as if the earth shook the atheism right out of me. The Book of Revelation mentions earthquakes quite a lot. For example, in chapter eight: “And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.” Not that I believe any of that, of course. The earthquake is over, and I’m an atheist again. For now. Let’s see how those locusts shape up.”
Some people never really pay attention until something unexpected happens. We all know the wise words of Mike Tyson, “Everybody has a plan until they are punched in the mouth”. Maybe this wasn’t quite a punch in the mouth but you have to admit, these are some strange coincidences. Maybe its time for us to slow down and turn “the radio” up, the end may be closer that you know.
